Omer Surucu Bet on Himself. Now He Leads a Team at Semper Consulting
Before Omer Surucu became a Sales Team Leader at Semper Consulting in Longwood, Florida, plenty of people told him the move that got him here was a mistake. Today, some of those same people ask him for advice. Here’s how he got from there to here.
Building a Life of His Own
Growing up in Turkey, Omer wanted to be an actor. His father had other ideas and nudged him toward computers and cybersecurity instead. That push opened up a world built on technology and problem-solving, and it gave Omer a habit he still has today: wanting to understand how things work.
He first got a taste of sales by running his own company in Turkey, where he quickly realized how much he enjoyed connecting with people.
Then came what he calls one of the biggest changes of his life: moving to the U.S. and living completely on his own. Being responsible for himself forced him to grow quickly and taught him independence and accountability.
Not everyone was on board. “When I first decided to do it, a lot of people tried to convince me not to,” Omer said. He went anyway.
“Sometimes you have to believe in your own vision before anyone else understands it.”
At every step, his mom has been there, the most significant person in his life and the biggest influence on who he is today.
Finding His Team at Semper Consulting
When it was time to keep building his sales career in the U.S., Omer knew what he wanted. “I wanted to be somewhere that gave me the opportunity to develop, compete, and build something long-term,” he said. He found it at our Longwood, Florida, home base when he joined our team in January 2025. What stood out was the room to grow and a family-oriented culture with strong communication. Like everyone at Semper Consulting, he started in an entry-level role.
His tech background never really left him. He still loves figuring out how things work, but here, he’s found that understanding people has become one of his strongest sales skills.
That might surprise anyone just meeting him. Omer is quiet and laid-back at first, so people sometimes underestimate him, but his friends and coworkers will tell you he’s smart, funny, and kind.
It helps that he clicked with his coworkers. Friendship, loyalty, and honesty matter most to Omer, and he sees all three in our office. “There is a genuine sense of support and connection in our office, and that is something I really appreciate,” he said.
To him, a strong company culture comes down to energy and integrity, with people bringing a positive attitude while staying honest and supporting one another. That mix is also his favorite part of working here. The atmosphere is competitive, but everyone wants to see each other improve.
The Biggest Change: Consistency
Looking back on his time here, Omer sees a different person than the one who walked in.
“I’m not the same person I was when I started at Semper. I used to be someone who had dreams. Now, I’m someone who has goals and a plan to achieve them.”
For him, the biggest change has been consistency, at work and in his personal life. He’s learned that success rarely comes from one huge moment. It comes from doing the right things over and over, even on days you don’t feel like it, and from breaking big goals into small wins that add up over time.
Setbacks get the same treatment. Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow hasn’t happened yet, so he puts his energy into making today good. One phrase has stuck with him: “There is no tomorrow.” To Omer, it means you stop waiting for the perfect time and take action now.
That resilience is what drives him most, and it’s what he admires in others, too: people who get knocked down and keep standing back up. “Things can knock me down,” he said, “but they’re going to have a hard time keeping me there.”

Becoming the Leader He Wanted to Have
That mindset carried him into his role as a Sales Team Leader, and it now shapes how he leads. His short-term goal is to become the leader he always wanted. To him, that’s someone you can always reach, learn from, and trust, who keeps their word and never asks the team to do something they wouldn’t do themselves.
He credits our President, Tyler Lozier, and Lucien Skinner-Savallich with shaping his thinking about leadership and personal development. Now he tries to pass that on by staying available to his team, sharing what he knows, and making sure his actions match what he asks of them.
What’s Next for Omer
Long-term, he’s working toward a successful, peaceful life with the freedom to enjoy what he’s worked so hard to build. And for anyone thinking about joining our team, his advice is simple:
“Get ready to compete, grow, and have fun at the same time. Take the opportunity seriously, stay coachable, and enjoy the process.”
